The Wayzata Symphony Orchestra is a volunteer community orchestra in its 18th season, made up of accomplished musicians from across the Twin Cities who hold themselves to a high standard, on stage and off. We have performed alongside Minnesota Orchestra principals, at Orchestra Hall, and in venues across the metro, all while keeping every concert free and open to the public. Our culture is collaborative, our organization is well-run, and the people involved are genuinely invested in what we are building together. If you are curious about getting involved, we would love to connect.
These are openings for our 2026-2027 Concert Season.

Publicity Manager
Contractor, Seasonal
The WSO Publicity Manager is a contract, seasonal position paying a $4,000 stipend for roughly 20 hours of work per month. You will own the full communications and marketing presence of a well-established Twin Cities orchestra, from social media and email campaigns to press releases, paid advertising, and promotional materials. This is a strong fit for someone who wants real creative ownership over an organization’s brand and story, with the flexibility of contract work and the satisfaction of contributing to something the community genuinely loves. You will work directly with the Executive Director and have visibility across the full organization, including the board, music director, and fundraising committee.
Grant Writer
Contractor, Project Based
The WSO Grant Writer is a project-based contract position that pays $300 per application submitted, making it a flexible way to contribute on your own schedule without a fixed hourly commitment. You will research funding opportunities, write and submit proposals, and handle stewardship reporting, working directly with the Executive Director with full context on WSO’s priorities and financials. This is a good fit for an experienced grant writer looking to add arts and culture work to their portfolio, or someone already passionate about community-based organizations who wants meaningful contract work they can fit around other commitments. There is room for this role to grow as WSO’s development program expands.
Graphic Designer
Volunteer, Unpaid
The WSO Volunteer Graphic Designer is a volunteer, unpaid project-based position tied to five concerts per season, making the time commitment predictable and manageable alongside other work. You will have creative ownership over WSO’s visual presence, designing season brochures and programs for a well-established orchestra with a real audience and a strong brand. This is a great fit for a designer looking to build or diversify their portfolio with arts and nonprofit work, or for an experienced designer who wants to donate their time and skills to a community-based organization they believe in. You will work closely with the Publicity Manager and be part of a great team.
